In
2003 Knapp-Goodwin approached us with a project to create
an interactive video conferencing application for the National
Space Centre in Leicester.
The purpose of the project was to demonstrate
the time delay that would occur when communicating over
a vast distance – in this case between a fictitious
space cruiser and a space station on Mars.
The project was conceptualised by Knapp-Goodwin,
who designed and built the kiosk environment that the display
resides in, and provided the graphic design for the display.
Benson Cairns acted as technical producers
on the project. We identified the technology and specialised
skills required and managed the project and production process
on behalf of Knapp-Goodwin. We also wrote the voice script
and oversaw the installation of display and its network
at the Space Centre.
We received invaluable assistance
in developing the Rich Internet Application that lies at
the core of the display from our associates at Iteration:two,
an Edinburgh-based software development company.
